MADARAT GHARBIYA  (WESTERN ORBITS) is a periodical specializing in the translation of western thoughts into the Arabic language, providing Arab readers the most current western writings in the fields of politics, strategy, economy and culture as well as discussing critical questions concerning media, environment, education and internal security.

Madarat Gharbiya is founded on the principle of the mutual destiny of man. It has set the ethical and intellectual objectives of :
  • Bringing together different cultures by strengthening the links between the Arab World and the world of western civilizations, promoting dialogues and exchanges, and working toward the reciprocity of knowledge and mutual recognition.

  • Providing an objective and rational platform to allow Arab readers, students, intellectuals and/or decision-makers gaining an in-depth knowledge of the continuous developments and changes in the western societies and the direct and indirect influences of such changes on the world’s societies and, more specifically, on the Arab World.

  • Focusing on the current regional and international issues by impartially exploring and deeply examining the geopolitical/strategic conflicts and the complexities of the East-West relations.

  • Providing Arab readers with the latest available information on the scientific advances in the Western world especially that which pertain to communication and information technologies.

Madarat Gharbiya is the first objective and rational publication devoted entirely to the communication of Western thought to the Arab readers. The contributing researchers and writers have been educated and lived in the West and have, by large, self-integrated the wealth of Western culture and its plurality.

Madarat Gharbiya is also involved in the translation and publishing of brochures, which deal with various political and social subjects, issued by research institutions and centers in Europe or the United States.

Madarat Gharbiya has local offices, contacts and research/study networks in major European and American cities.

Madarat Gharbiya is published in Beirut, where its head office is located. It is distributed in the Arab World as well as the major centers of the Arabic diasporas worldwide.
